About Us

My name is Ryan, and I am the founder and Co-Owner of McEwen Handcraft.

I’ve had an eclectic work history that has seen me work coast to coast in Canada and even up north a time or two. I’ve done a lot of different jobs, from structural carpentry to roofing, drain tile, and even drywall and painting.

While these are all wonderful jobs that have taken me all over Canada they always fell short of allowing me to express myself creatively. I’ve tried wood carving, writing, painting, and many other mediums to express myself. None have come close to the deep satisfaction I get when creating something out of Leather. Whether it’s tooling an image or making a satchel bag, leather has captured my creative soul.

All my many days of wandering have led me to this. McEwen Handcraft is the culmination of the combined efforts of both my wife and I working toward self-sufficiency and independence. Be it actual leather crafted items, or downloadable projects other artists can do to making conditioning balm and other leather care products made in small batches in our home shop by hand!

Everything we do is made here at home in Langley British Columbia Canada. We buy local, sell local, and support local in the hopes that fellow Canadians will appreciate and support us in return.
